Katherine Carper is visiting assistant professor at Boston College, where she received her PhD in 2020 for her dissertation, “The Migration Business, 1824–1876.” She specializes in the social history of US immigration in the nineteenth century.

Kevin Kenny is professor of history at New York University, where he specializes in US immigration history. His current research explores the intersection of immigration policy with slavery from the American Revolution through Reconstruction.

Michael A. Schoeppner is associate professor of history at the University of Maine Farmington. His first book is Moral Contagion: Black Atlantic Sailors, Citizenship, and Diplomacy in Antebellum America (2019).
