Abstract

Abstract:

This article focuses on the work of Sylvain Bourmeau, Eléonore Mercier, and Franck Leibovici, three French practitioners who all appropriate or repurpose ready-made materials to generate poetry. It shows how poetic practice more and more engages with documents linked to cultural memory, such as domestic violence, war crimes or current affairs. Focusing on three different techniques of repurposing, this article examines how such practices bring to light the network of power of our mediarchy, give rise to alternative modes of political action and lead to a redefinition of the public in contemporary culture.
