Abstract

ABSTRACT:

This study tested the impact of the 2018 revision of the National Alliance on Mental Illness In Our Own Voice (IOOV) presentation. A questionnaire involving statements about mental health conditions was administered to 68 individuals from community groups before and after IOOV presentations and to 67 individuals before and after community group meetings unrelated to mental health. Analyses of variance revealed a significant interaction effect on questionnaire Overall Score. IOOV presentation groups improved significantly but non-IOOV groups showed no change. These results suggest that the revised IOOV presentation is an effective tool for establishing positive changes in understanding of mental health conditions.
