Abstract

ABSTRACT:

This article describes a feasibility study of the Recovery-Oriented Money Management (ROMM) program. ROMM is an 8-week intervention consisting of financial education groups, individual financial coaching, and computerized budget assistance. Seventy-three homeless and at-risk veterans enrolled in ROMM and 28 veterans participated in the research evaluation. Substantial improvements in money management, mental health symptoms, and level of distress were observed after 4 weeks, which continued among veterans who completed assessments at 8 and 12 weeks. Participants reported high satisfaction with the program. These results suggest the ROMM program is feasible, but controlled evaluation is needed.
