Abstract:
This Digital Collection presents 169 posters from the Erase COVID project, a global artist collective that formed around the time COVID-19 was declared a pandemic in March 2020. Artists from about a dozen countries came together to make a series of visually rich public service announcements (PSAs) to recommend important health safety practices and draw attention to major concerns impacting society. The Erase COVID project sells posters, cards, postcards, apparel, and other items on its website, EraseCOVID.com, which distributes proceeds equally among the artists, the printer/distributor, and its charity partner MusiCares, an organization supporting music industry workers in need. This Digital Collection is a follow up to Spring 2020 interviews with the Erase COVID co-founder Michael Buchmiller and seven artists contributing to the project. Artist biographies and studio descriptions are provided in addition to the poster collection. The artists have made their posters available in this Collection for research and teaching purposes.
