Abstract:
Edwidge Danticat’s novel Untwine (2015) narrates the trauma of teenager Giselle Boyer who experiences the death of her sister while she comes-of-age. This paper aims to show how Danticat associates Giselle’s process of mourning with the development of an aesthetic and diasporic literacy situated within a Haitian consciousness.
