Editor's Note This issue contains reports from all six of our bibliographic correspondents in Asia and Europe. I wish to take this opportunity to thank them, on behalf of the editor, the Editorial Board, and the subscribers to Republican China. Beginning with the April 1992 issue, Professor Yang Tianshi, Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, will begin service as our bibliographic correspondent in the People's Republic of China. Thanks are also due to Lee Mcisaac, for taking time from her own work to translate the lengthy piece found in the pages that follow, and to David D. Buck, for preparing the detailed report on the Boxer Conference. I am deeply grateful to Washington and Lee's Ms. Adrienne Hall Bodie, Karen Lyle, and Clare saunders for their valuable assistance with this issue. The November 1991 issue is well in hand. It will contain five major articles, as well as several other reports and essays. The April 1992 issue will contain a mini-symposium (five essays) on missionaries in Republican China, as well as the usual bibliographic reports. i ...
