Abstract

Abstract:

This article explores teaching troubadour, trobairitz, and trouvère verse through experiential design and creative writing in the undergraduate French classroom. David Kolb's experiential learning theory is at the forefront of my pedagogical approach and is supplemented by composition studies approaches to teaching writing. This article presents classroom experiences that are pedagogical meeting points of medieval studies, literary analysis, and creative writing. Specific examples show student engagement with and undergraduate research about Thibaut de Champagne, Guilhem IX, the Comtessa de Dia, and other trouvères, troubadours, and trobairitz.
