Abstract:
Questions about whether or not Theravada Buddhists are rational and capitalistic reduce Theravada traditions to Max Weber's interpretation. I aĴ empt to go beyond Weber's reading by turning to Walter Benjamin's philosophy because he challenges the use of reason and points to instances where the ethical dimension not only appears but can also disrupt the tempo and logic of capitalism.
