Editor’s Note

Publishing JMBRAS involves a great deal of behind-the-scenes work by individuals who handle copy editing, layout, proofreading, and production. Their names do not appear in the journal but there would be no publication without them. Of these tasks, copy editing is one of the most important. It’s tedious and attracts notice only when a mistake slips through. For many years JMBRAS benefitted from copy editing carried out by Ms Kay Lyons.

Kay passed away in March 2020. Born in Australia, she married a Malaysian and spent much of her adult life in Malaysia. She wrote and published a book of her own entitled Malaysian Children’s Favourite Stories and over the years edited the writing of many other authors. It is with great respect that the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society acknowledges her work.
