A hybrid essay blending nonfiction and fiction centered around the Cuyahoga river in Ohio. The essay centers around a dream where Lou Reed shares a new album in 2019, leading the author to contemplate how creative production can surpass metaphysical limitations. The author presents his Native heritage in relationship to the river, and the way Reed’s spiritual presence in the city persists well past the singer’s death, and through to the greater world. [...]
