Abstract

Abstract:

An essay reimagining the final days of a Native American woman whose remains were uncovered—but never identified—on historically Nisenan territory in Sacramento county. Using observations and scientific analysis, the author retraces the body’s death by spider bite and the various events that contextualize the death, thus creating a narrative. The essay is formed from 8 numbered sections, darting between perspectives and between the past and the present.
