The Bilan cinématographique began in Vol. 87.3 (March 2014) of the French Review. This annual article, which provides an overview of the past year's films, events, and trends in the French-speaking film world, has since become one of the highlights of our journal. Many thanks to Nathalie Degroult and Marie-Line Brunet for this year's article: "Bilan cinématographique 2018–2019: tous à l'eau!" The associated Dossier pédagogique: "Edmond (Alexis Michalik, 2019)" is available (in PDF format) on the French Review website: <frenchreview.frenchteachers.org/Dossiers.html>.

Readers will also find in this issue several articles that are included in our regular rubrics: Society and Culture (two articles), Focus on the Classroom (one), Film (one), and Literature (eight). The quality and variety of these articles provides a good indication of the strength and the level of innovation in the field of French and Francophone Studies.

Our Special Issue on l'Entre-deux-guerres is scheduled for publication in May 2021 (Vol. 94.4). This Special Issue will be devoted to the literary, cinematic, and cultural production of the interwar years (1919–1939). Scholars working in various fields are encouraged to submit articles. Multidisciplinary approaches are welcome. The deadline for submission is July 1, 2020.

In closing, authors should note the following changes when submitting an article or review:

  • —All files should now be in .docx format (instead of .doc).

  • —Submitted articles can now be longer: 5,000 to 7,000 words (instead of 4,000 to 6,000). [End Page 11]
