Abstract

Abstract:

This article describes an advanced language and culture course titled Histoires modernes de Paris. To begin, I provide the rationale for its conception, focusing on the 2007 MLA report’s recommendation to cultivate students’ translingual and transcultural competence. In the following sections, I outline the content of the course, concentrating on its underlying themes, goals, and curriculum, as well as some of its specific materials and tasks. To conclude, I discuss the benefits of courses of this genre.
