Abstract

Abstract:

Literary tourism is a big business in France, where sites associated with writers such as les maisons d'écrivains are valued as part of the country's cultural heritage. One such site is the house in Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye (Bourgogne) where Colette was born and lived from 1874 to 1891. The newly restored maison de Colette opened its doors to the public in May 2016. In this interview, Frédéric Maget, director of La maison de Colette, talks about the mission of the museum and how the unique characteristics of Colette's natal home can provide visitors with insights into her life and work.
