Abstract

Abstract:

This article argues that Marie Nimier's Vous dansez? (2005) represents the author's most concerted attempt to illustrate the body as a tool of knowledge formation because it powerfully underscores the epistemological encounters that emerge between dance, writing, and mobility. This article thus aims to expand the scope from which readers of Nimier can understand the crucial trope of the body in her work by reading Vous dansez? against the grain of Mallarmé's notion of "écriture corporelle," as well as through the lens of philosophical arguments that demonstrate how corporeal sensations harbor the conditions for thinking and new ways of being.
