Abstract

Abstract:

This article documents a digital mapmaking project conducted during a study abroad program in France. Nine American undergraduate students enrolled in an intensive summer language program collaboratively created a digital map. The project provided learners with opportunities for intercultural learning and to develop a sense of place through a series of cultural reflections that were linked to the program's excursion program. After tracing the reflections of one participant, the article concludes with a set of recommendations for instructors and program directors who are interested in integrating digital humanities and associated technologies as instructional vehicles into study abroad programs.
