Abstract

Abstract:

This new collective reading of Le Bébé aims to coincide with the release of the English translation (2019) of what arguably stands out as the most unusual and autobiographical text in Darrieussecq’s œuvre. Contributors engage with shifting paradigms and revisit clashing perspectives, as they offer personal answers and diverse reactions to the anti ‘Bringing up Baby’ manual par excellence. This polyvocal, open-ended roundtable offers a refreshing reading experiment, revealing the multiple ways to approach Darrieussecq. It also shows how reading takes place as a highly individual experience of the text.
