Abstract:
"Mothers and Daughters" is a chapter from a forthcoming novel by Dahlma Llanos-Figueroa. In this chapter the author transports us to the dawn of the abolition of slavery in Puerto Rico. This is the story of Milagros, a young woman who was separated and sold away from her mother Pola shortly after birth. The desire for a closeness with her mother prompts Milagros to look for her, but in turn, Pola longs to forget the ghosts of the past.
