Abstract:
Shamans are expert healers and charismatic performers who induce their patients' faith in their healing powers, leading to an expectation of a successful outcome—which in turn triggers a self-healing mechanism. Western doctors, on the other hand, lack performance awareness and training. Modern medicine practitioners can gain substantially by learning some of the performance techniques of traditional healers, thus bridging the increasing gap between traditional and Western medicine.
