Abstract

Abstract:

This poem revisits a former relationship in the context of a city, New York, which has changed since the conclusion of the relationship and continues to change with time. Both the other person and all the settings and places that marked the relationship are now gone. The poem reflects on transience, the passage of time, and the sad ways in which a particular city at any given moment also contains all the past versions of the cities it used to be.
