1. In Black Panther, there is a scene in which Lupita speaks Korean. She talks to an ajummaby a fish stall, which also happens to be a front for an illegal gambling ring. Neither of them speakKorean well. 2. I am not quite sure if the gambling ring is illegalor just so bougie that only rich foreigners know about it.The secret fish market casino is lush with red velvet and its tables are waited uponby beautiful Asian girls barely dressed in hanbok. 3. I went to my high school prom barely dressed inhanbok. I went with a white boy named Jacob, a good friend, who was nice enoughto offer me his jacket when the sun set. He walked me to my door at the end of the night, and Ialmost kissed him out of gratitude. 4. Hanbok, unfortunately, is fairly restrictive;it is not great for dancing, fooling around or running out of the way. If there were to be an AsianMarvel movie, I don't think it would be a good warrior costume. 5. It'd still be hot though.6. I have not worn my hanbok out in public since prom. 7. I have talked to Jacob though, but always crying. Each time I call, I ask him why he didn't take my virginity and he apologizes.8. The soundtrack for the Asian Marvel movie should be equal partsAwkwafina, Rich Brian and the hammering of railroad tracks. 9. Action scenesshould take place far away from a fish market and nowhere near a cherry blossom festival.10. This, of course, would have to be set in the distant future, after Japan and Koreaapologize for the abundance of butterflies. 11. Perhaps our secret city will be under the sea,in the middle of the Pacific or any other ocean. Water is interchangeable, after all.Our assorted women warriors would surface from random streams, so when men call out "Konichiwa, bella cina!" they would not be mistaken, merely foretelling. 12. One October morning myfreshman year, I stumbled up the stairs still drunk from the night before. OnceI entered my suite, just a floor above, I ran to the bathroom and threw up. My hair was wetfrom either the vomit or the toilet bowl when I texted Jacob to tell him I had sex for the first time. (Iwas wearing a black shirt and velvet leggings that day) 13. I spoke no Korean, wore no dresses and saw no butterflies for a week. 14. But still, there is a movie to be made from all this, I swear. [End Page 102]

R: Pre-Credit Sequence, or An Apology for the Butterflies

[Scene 1]Open on a dark screen. Wait for the audience to realize that it is not blackbut a very dark yellow. Zoom in until gaps are visible, until one can noticethe fluttering of wings. It is an abundance of yellow butterflies. Suddenly, they fly off the camera toreveal a sea. Follow the flight of the butterflies as they all dive towards their death.

[Scene 2]Underwater. Deeper. Shoot towards surface of the sea. A small brown mass startsto sink. Understand this to be the butterflies. They approach the camera. Suddenly, a hand, small, pale and desperate, enters the screen and attempts to scoop upthe butterflies. It disappears with most of them (from the center) but the restof the butterflies disperse. It looks like they are flying.

[Scene 3]Cut to a small girl on land, whimpering, holding onto a handful of dead, wet butterflies. She shakesthem as gently as she can, trying to get them dry. They flop, lifeless in her hands. Some wings evenfall off the butterflies and onto the ground. Seeing this, the girl stops. She falls to the ground andstarts sobbing loudly. Allthe while, she leaves her hands spread out and straight, as to not disturb the butterflies. Zoom into asingle dead butterfly's wings until the screen looks black. [End Page 103]
