Abstract:
It took my eyes a long time to adjust to the brightness of the morning. I was tired, I needed sleep, so I decided to first rest my eyes on the gray of the sidewalk, before raising them for good and facing such a new day.
I began by counting my steps, then moved on to the cracks in the sidewalk, distracted now and then by the words stenciled onto the ground in white paint: No Spitting, Tuberculosis Risk.
Without noticing I found myself sitting next to Miss Nedi for my piano lesson.
