Editor’s Note

This issue of Ohio History marks one of the most momentous changes in this venerable journal’s history: The Kent State University Press is transitioning this journal from hard copy print to an online open access publication.

The benefits of this move are significant. Ohio History will now be easily accessible to all, no matter where in the world. This change also provides other opportunities including longer articles and more extensive reviews, greater use of images and graphics, and live links to internet resources—all to enhance the research presented in Ohio History. I am confident that this new era in the journal’s history will continue to provide excellent, state-of-the-art research to an even larger audience.
