Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si positions the Roman Catholic Church as a defender of the earth's integrity. I suggest in this essay that a reading of the ancient Chinese medical text Huangdi neijing 黃帝內經 reveals a philosophical perspective that is not dissimilar, namely that the idea of body extends to the social, political, cultural, and environmental.
