This article performs a recuperative rereading of Dame Ragnell in The Weddynge of Syr Gawen and Dame Ragnell and demonstrates, through etymological research, critical edition tracking, and socio-historical evidence, a sustained pattern of scholarly misreading and glossing of line 237 of the source text.
