Abstract

Abstract:

The imbroglio in the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon has triggered unprecedented curiosity in the history of the Southern Cameroons. Historians and pundits have engaged intellectual debates as to the causes of the predicaments of the Southern Cameroonians in the union with the Cameroun Republic. This paper discusses the decolonization of the Southern Cameroons from 1946–1961. Examination of primary and secondary sources revealed that the plight of the Southern Cameroonians is a consequence of a failed decolonization. British conspiracy at the UN deprived the people of their right to independence as a separate territory and can only be assuaged by the British.
