Abstract:
This poem concerns a person who is trying to summon hope in a new relationship and alternates between joy and sorrow as she tries to reconcile competing emotions, memories and experiences.
In this poem, the speaker recalls experiencing some strange connections to Jesus and spirituality in times of extreme pain and recalls a winter when her dead father seems to return to her.
