Abstract:
A personal essay about the author’s life with tinnitus. Beginning with the author’s memories with her father, himself deaf, as she struggled to deal with his disability, McCabe explores the embarrassment and other emotional effects of her affliction. Describes the manifestations of her father’s shame and her own introverted nature as well as the way the author finds themselves trying to minimize the publicity of her tinnitus.
