A travel essay about the author’s encounter in Sarajevo with a Mr. Wang, a 61-year-old backpacker exploring the city. The author learns that Mr. Wang is in the Balkan capital to view the backdrops for the film Walter Defends Sarajevo, which was filmed in Sarajevo and released in 1972. A character study, Yee’s essay examines the impact film has on multiculturalism and tourism.
