A bronze memorial scheduled for dedication on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Capitol Complex in 2020 promises to honor Harrisburg's historical African American community and commemorate the vanished neighborhood of the Old Eighth Ward. The installation, timed to mark the anniversaries of the ratification of the Fifteenth and Nineteenth amendments, will create a new destination place for historical tourism.
