WELCOME TO NEW CEO OF LEONARDO-ASU PARTNERSHIP: DIANA AYTON-SHENKER

What can you imagine to be possible when a populace of curiosity adheres itself to an international network of boundless researchers? Arizona State University and Leonardo/The International Society for the Arts, Sciences and Technology are embarking on this new initiative led by Executive Director Diana Ayton-Shenker. While we don't have the answers to what will be, we are starting with the question posed by Ayton-Shenker: "How do we become more human and more humane?"

In her first weeks as Executive Director of the partnership and CEO of Leonardo/ISAST, Ayton-Shenker engaged with community stakeholders to get a sense of how our uniqueness and similarities have created and can create an impact on 21st-century problems.

This partnership provides leadership for the advancement of ASU's work in the area of art-science research and creative activity and amplifies the university's international profile in the field. The partnership catapults Leonardo/ISAST and its constituent programs to a new level of growth and market presence and provides long-term continuity for the organization. Please welcome Diana to our team and read more about her background at www.leonardo.info/led/19253.

NEW IN LEONARDO BOOK SERIES: MATERIAL WITNESS: MEDIA, FORENSICS, EVIDENCE BY SUSAN SCHUPPLI

In this book, Susan Schuppli introduces a new operative concept: material witness, an exploration of the evidential role of matter as both registering external events and exposing the practices and procedures that enable matter to bear witness. Organized in the format of a trial, Material Witness moves through a series of cases that provide insight into the ways in which materials become contested agents of dispute around which stake holders gather.
