Abstract

Abstract:

Abstract:

In lieu of the critical categories of transition, passage, and negotiation of differences, applied by critics to diasporic fiction, Fouad Laroui's works testify to an unusual configuration of lines and borders that the Subject cannot cross over. It is the figure of the intermonde that keeps him away from the territories and narrations to which he tries or is forced to belong. This fact emerges through two modalities affecting the being of the Subject, namely his paratopia and his incongruence with respect to the situations and contexts in which he finds himself caught. Laroui's Subject ultimately teeters between non-belonging and self-exclusion, between a foundational marginality and a constant awakening to his difference.
