  • Editor’s Note
  • Trygve Throntveit

The following symposium emerged from an Author Meets Critics panel at the 2018 meeting of the American Political Science Association in Boston, Massachusetts. I am grateful to those of Fishkin’s original interlocutors who revised their papers for submission, review, and publication in The Good Society: Simone Chambers, Cristina Lafont, Lawrence Lessig, Jane Mansbridge, and Mark Warren. I also want to thank Kimmo Grönlund, Sanford Levinson, and Yves Sintomer for responding with such enthusiasm and care to my requests for additional perspectives. And of course, I thank Jim Fishkin for the time and care he took in responding to his colleagues.

All unattributed parenthetical citations in the text below refer to James S. Fishkin, Democracy When the People Are Thinking: Revitalizing Our Politics through Public Deliberation (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2018). [End Page 110]
