Abstract

Abstract:

This article explores immigration from the era of the Okies to the present, thus illustrating Steinbeck's ongoing significance. It also surveys Steinbeck's portrayal of businesspeople in several of his novels. Many are positive portrayals. It concludes that Steinbeck in both his presentation of immigration and business has continuing relevance for our own times.
