In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Dedication

This volume of The Hawaiian Journal of History is dedicated to the memory of

William G. “Burl” Burlingame

Burl was an author, historian, and a veteran feature writer for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. He left the paper in 2012 to work at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, holding posts as a research specialist, curator, and historian. The majority of the books he wrote concerned World War II history, and he was especially interested in wartime aeronautical history. Burl was elected to the Hawaiian Historical Society’s Board of Directors on June 1, 2018. [End Page i]
