  • Editor's Note

Now that the journal of black sexuality and relationships is in its sixth year, we recently learned about the journal being selected to be included on Project MUSE Premium. As you can imagine, we were in shock and truly humbled. The platform allows for the journal to be included on a database that is in over 1200 academic institutions around the world which gives an enhanced access for professionals to reference and learn from research. My colleagues and I reflected about the amount of time, effort, and emotion that scholars had invested in conducting their research and how to tell the stories of those whom they collected data from. We exchanged experiences about the countless hours devoted to writing and editing manuscripts in order to share with our community the nuances of sexuality expression by people of African descent. The collective effort for our journal has become something special in that we now have a medium to communicate with each other around the world.

We are looking forward to seeing you in St. Thomas for our fift h Spring Roundtable Series. This year's theme, Th e Confluence of Sex, Race, and Gender: An Exploration of Leadership Ideologies and Practices, suggests that presentations will focus on the necessity of clearly articulating what leadership might be in various communities. What's missing from the sexological literature and discourse is research devoted to leadership styles and community engagement. There needs to be more discussions about how leadership can be liberating and transformative in communities that have been traditionally underrepresented and/or marginalized. Our Spring Roundtable Series will be a space for professionals to come and exchange research, clinical, and pedagogical ideas. [End Page vii]
