Abstract

Abstract:

Rolling Stone magazine is a US popular culture artifact. While the publication reports hard-hitting investigative news, there is a disconnect between what it reports and how it is perceived—which is primarily as a music and entertainment publication. This study examines how Rolling Stone frames news and politics and how the magazine portrays itself as being political, through its front covers. The purpose of this study is to understand how Rolling Stone conveys its identity both as an entertainment and hard-hitting news organization. In a world where politics and entertainment have become blurred and intertwined, it is important to question and analyze the legitimacy and contributions of pop cultural artifacts.
