Endless cloudwork. Ragged mountains, and the ruins of astonished volcanoes. The promise of oceans. Billions of leaves, casually dropped over millions of years. Honey and maggots. Stoical lakes. David McCooey is a prize-winning poet and critic. His latest book of poems, Star Struck, was published by UWA Publishing in 2016. His poetry has been widely anthologized and appeared in ten of the last eleven editions of The Best Australian Poems series. McCooey is the deputy general editor of The Literature of Australia (Norton, 2009). McCooey is a professor of writing and literature at Deakin University (Victoria). He is also a sound artist and composer. His latest album, The Apartment, in collaboration with Paul Hetherington, was released as a digital download in 2018.
