Abstract:
This article will present an argument for "scriptural injunctivism"—a position shared by Yeshayahu Leibowiz and the Mīmāṃsā philosophical tradition and according to which fundamental texts of a religious tradition are to be taken primarily as a source of injunctions for ritual action and normative behavior, rather than as metaphysical or ethical knowledge.
