Abstract:
In this essay the "White Horse Dialogue" is placed in the context of pre-Qin philosophy, and it is explained how a pro-realist ontology is possible within a generally nominalist background. It is argued that Gongsun Long did admit the independent existence of qualities, although considering them as material parts of concrete objects/stuff.
