Abstract:
“Controlled Burning”: While teaching a college class, an instructor asks students to contend with a nonfiction excerpt written by a Latino author. The exercise becomes a launching point to the past and how marginalized people deal with shame. “The New Testament”: Demonstrating that the personal is political and vice versa, A Latinx family gets implicated in the dispute between Israel and Palestine.
