ABSTRACT:
This article considers George Bernard Shaw's musical background and knowledge and its application to the structure of Pygmalion. It explores how throughout this play Shaw indicates the melodic cadences within the dialogue with a musicality that is so significant that the play almost comes across as a musical drama or an operatic score, and how this in turn makes Pygmalion the perfect play for a musical adaptation.
