Cofradía de la Negritud: Entrevista a Norberto Mesa Carbonell

Esta entrevista reflexiona sobre obstáculos que dificultan el desarrollo del movimiento antirracista cubano. Aunque se afirma la necesidad de avanzar el movimiento antirracista, la posición del gobierno de no permitir el debate público sobre esta cuestión obstaculiza el activismo antirracista. Se explican los diferentes proyectos que hay en la isla para luchar contra este problema, y se analiza la relevancia de la reunión de Harvard para el activismo antirracista. También la entrevista señala la labor de la Cofradía de la Negritud, proyecto que tiene el propósito de llevar a la conciencia de la sociedad civil cubana y de las autoridades el proceso creciente de manifestaciones de desigualdad y de racismo en Cuba.

This interview reflects on the obstacles that impede the development of a Cuban anti-racist movement. Although there is a need to advance an anti-racist movement in the island, the government's position of not allowing public debate on racism hinders the development of anti-racist activism. The interview explores different contemporary projects that aim to combat this problem, and analyses the relevance of the Harvard meeting for anti-racist activism in Cuba. The interview also explains the work of the Cofradía de la Negritud, a project that brings to light the growing manifestations of inequality and racism in Cuba to Cuban civil society and its government.
