Abstract

precis:

"Interreligious," or "being or doing between different religions," is a mode widely accepted and promoted in Western society these days. The purpose of this essay is to trace the backgrounds of this positive acceptance. Examining the five dimensions—historical, contemporary, sociological, philosophical, and theological—the essay finds that such acceptance lies in human lived experiences of the pain fr om totalitarianism, power, violence, dehumanization, and ceaseless efforts to overcome them.
