W. Gerald Hamonic, The Story of Paul Terry and His Classic Cartoon Factory (New Barnet, Herts: John Libbey Publishing, 2017).

Paul Terry (1887–1971), a giant of cartoon animation, created such popular cartoon characters as Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle. His Terrytoons studio was one of the major operations during the golden age of American animation from 1928 to 1972. During his forty-year career (1915–1955), Terry animated, directed, and produced over 1,100 shorts—more cartoons than any other producer in the history of animation. Tracing the history of Terrytoons to its closure in 1968, the book's meticulous research draws on over fifty oral histories, interviews with animation legends and Oscar winners, the Terry family papers, and a wealth of archival materials. In addition, it features nearly two hundred photographs (many in color) and detailed biographies of dozens of animation artists who were key players in the studio's success. By surveying the life and times of Terry and his cartoon factory, this book fills a large gap in the history of animated film.
