Podría ser el sistema de educación musical más famoso y elogiado del mundo, sin embargo la investigación académica en los últimos años ha revelado numerosas fallas en la narrativa dominante, que aparece cada vez más como un mito. Este artículo examina los procesos por los cuales se estableció esta narrativa a nivel tanto nacional como internacional, centrándose en la creación, diseminación y consolidación del mito por los medios, las evaluaciones de programas, y una industria global emergente de El Sistema.
