On December 31st 2018, I shall step down as Editor of AJP. During the past 11 years, I have found the job both enjoyable and rewarding, especially in terms of bringing to publication articles written by a diverse group of contributors, many of them in the early stages of their professional careers. Meeting these authors at conferences and elsewhere has been a genuine pleasure, as has speaking to colleagues and students in various locations about how to publish one's work. I am especially pleased with our moves to increase the international scope of the journal and its Editorial Board, as well as to encourage submissions which combine traditional skills in philology with critical methodologies commonly used in fields beyond Classical Studies. These efforts, along with seeking submissions from historically under-represented groups have been the main priorities of the editorial team. I am grateful to all the Associate Editors I have worked with, and to the members of the Editorial Board, for performing their duties so efficiently and for their willingness to help, not infrequently under pressure of time. My other priority has been keeping to deadlines and ensuring the highest standards of accuracy in the final published articles and reviews. In this, I have depended heavily upon the skill and conscientiousness of my Editorial Assistants over the years, all graduates of the Texas Tech Classics MA program: Benjamin Shane Morgan, Rachel Steiner, Joseph Salvaggio, Joseph Zehner, Nathan Wolcott, Caitlin Mongrain and Brett Stine. Likewise, at JHUP, it has been a pleasure to work with Carol Hamblen and Maria Kummerfeldt; I have also been fortunate to have a succession of very able proofreaders from the doctoral program at Harvard, kindly supplied by Kathleen Coleman. Like all such enterprises, producing AJP necessitates a high level of teamwork and cooperation, and to everyone who has played their part in keeping the ship afloat, I express my profound gratitude. The terms of my Editorship were established in 2007 by Bill Breichner at JHUP and by my then dean, Jane Winer, and head of department, Julian Suppe, here at Texas Tech: their initial generosity and support enabled me to set up a system which has run smoothly for over a decade (give or take the occasional dies horribilis).

I am delighted to be handing over the reins to Joseph Farrell at the University of Pennsylvania, a long-time member of the Editorial Board and familiar to all from his scholarship and his work in the profession at large. AJP will flourish under his leadership. [End Page 1]
