In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

This special issue includes eight essays that emerged from presentations given at the PSA's Fourth International Edgar Allan Poe Conference held in New York City in 2015. Richard Kopley and I coedited this collection, and Richard's introduction follows this entry. Our theme—"Influencing Poe"—limited the choices from the many excellent submissions we received.

Many members of the PSA attended the Kyoto Conference on Poe and Hawthorne this past summer. The PSA, again, is grateful to Susan Tane for providing Tane Travel Awards to help with the cost of travel to Kyoto. An overview of the conference, some pictures, the keynote address by Takayuki Tatsumi, and, we hope, some essays that grew out of the conference presentations will be included in the Fall 2019 issue.

Poe scholars from around the world attended the Edgar Allan Poe Spanish Association's the first conference—"Poe in the Age of Populism"—at the University of Valladolid. A special issue of the Edgar Allan Poe Review will be edited by Santiago Rodriguez Guerrero-Strachan and José Ramón and will appear in Spring 2019. Emron Esplin, Paul Lewis, Jeffrey Savoye, and I gave plenary talks at the conference, and along with panel presentations, the event included the Pollin Doctoral Seminar led by Margarita Rigal-Aragón and a book presentation by Paul Lewis.

NB: Because this is a special issue and our Spring 2019 will also be a special issue, our columns "Poe in Cyberspace" and "Poe in Richmond" will not appear until the Fall 2019 issue. [End Page v]
