Abstract:
“Poem for my Friend in Virginia” Commemorating a deep female friendship, this poem reflects on formative experiences shared between the speaker and a friend. It concludes with a shift in verb tense that indicates the bond is ongoing and growing. “Poem for my Friend in Chicago” Commemorating a deep female friendship, this poem reflects on the state of shared challenges as well as joys. In the end, the poem places heightened intellectual value on the everyday experiences it describes.
